Job Description

Missions

Modeling of spin relaxation and hyperfine interactions using quantum chemistry for the manipulation of molecular spins in quantum computing. We are seeking applications for a postdoctoral researcher to join the Extended Systems and Magnetism group at the Laboratory of Quantum Chemistry and Physics (LCPQ) UMR5626 at the University of Toulouse. (https://www.lcpq.ups-tlse.fr/spip.php?rubrique29&lang=en) The main objective of this project will be to determine hyperfine and spin-phonon couplings using quantum chemistry methods.

Activity

This project is part of the MolQuif PEPR (https://www.pepr-quantique.fr/en/projet/molqif-2/). It aims to explore the potential of paramagnetic complexes to serve as robust, solid-state spin-based quantum bits (qubits) for quantum information processing. The postdoctoral researcher will use standard quantum chemistry codes (MOLCAS, ORCA) to calculate the electronic structures of lanthanide or transition metal complexes, in close collaboration with experimental colleagues from the consortium. Superhyperfine and spin-phonon couplings will be calculated to rationalize the decoherence pathways of spin states.

Your Profil

Skills

The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in quantum chemistry and have a strong interest in modeling. Experience with multiconfigurational methods is preferred.

Your Work Environment

The postdoctoral researcher will be supervised by Hélène Bolvin. The Laboratory of Quantum Chemistry and Physics is part of the FeRMI Federation
and is located on the Rangeuil campus of the University of Toulouse. The LCPQ brings together 30 permanent researchers working in various fields of computational and theoretical chemistry.
