Missions
The successful candidate will contribute to an interdisciplinary study conducted as part of the Villegarden project to characterize residents' relationships with residential green spaces (EVR) and the biodiversity they host. This study will be based on a nationwide questionnaire survey conducted in the seven cities included in the project (Lyon, Montpellier, Paris, Nantes, Marseille, Nancy, and Angers) as well as a city-wide psycho-physiological experiment (Lyon). The successful candidate will contribute to the framing of the issues and methodology, the collection, analysis, and scientific promotion of the study (scientific articles and popular content for residents). These tasks will be based on regular networking with project researchers from different disciplinary fields to ensure the interdisciplinary coherence of the work.
With the interdisciplinary team formed around the Villegarden project, the person recruited will also participate in the coordination of the project (e.g., organization of workshops; supervision of students).
Activités
- Contribution to a preliminary questionnaire survey aimed at identifying the EVRs studied in Villegarden: reflection on inclusion criteria and question formulation
- Conducting a questionnaire survey among residents of selected EVRs: problem identification, design, administration, and analysis
- Conducting an experiment to highlight the psychophysiological effects induced by frequenting EVRs: problem identification, design (in particular choice of physiological measurements), administration, and analysis
- Ensuring compliance with ethics committees
- Supervising any students recruited to collect survey data
- Scientific promotion of the study (articles and popularization content for residents participating in the project)
- Participation in the structuring and facilitation of the Villegarden project (e.g., organization of workshops)
- Networking with researchers who are members of the consortium.
Compétences
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in psychology or neuroscience focusing on issues related to environmental perceptions.
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of environmental perceptions and issues related to biodiversity conservation.
They must be proficient in survey and physiological measurement methods and tools (ECG, AED, EEG, etc.) and the associated analysis methods: statistical analysis using R and programming in Python.
The following are also required:
- Fluency in English and French, both written and spoken;
- Ability to work in a team on interdisciplinary projects.
- Experience or interest in project management
- Mastery of regulatory issues associated with the project (GDPR, ethics committee) and ideally experience in compliance with the relevant authorities
- Strong writing skills, ability to formulate a scientific project, publish and promote research
- An interest in or enjoyment of supervising students
Contexte de travail
The main laboratory to which the successful candidate will be attached is UMR 5600 Environment, City, Society, which brings together researchers representing a wide range of disciplines within the humanities and social sciences, environmental sciences, and engineering sciences. The various components of the laboratory comprise 162 permanent staff and as many doctoral students.
The UMR analyzes the dynamics of change between the environment, cities, and society. These are studied in an interdisciplinary manner in light of the interactions between actors and agents of change, integrating entities of various kinds, human or otherwise, that can drive, prohibit, or guide change. The UMR EVS is internationally recognized for its work on the environmental and social transition that societies and their territories must undertake.
The position is part of the Villegarden project, winner of the PEPR VDBI award, which focuses on issues related to biodiversity conservation in EVRs. In addition to its main affiliation, this position is also linked to other research units throughout the metropolitan area that are members of the Villegarden consortium. It mainly includes ecologists, but also geographers and sociologists.
Le poste se situe dans un secteur relevant de la protection du potentiel scientifique et technique (PPST), et nécessite donc, conformément à la réglementation, que votre arrivée soit autorisée par l'autorité compétente du MESR.
Contraintes et risques
Travel within the project teams' organizations and to the various cities under study is to be expected, particularly for data collection purposes.
