Missions
Within the ANR project « SynBin », we hypothesise that synapses of a given type can adopt distinct molecular and functional profiles and aim to characterise these using patch-clamp recordings of unitary synaptic currents and high-speed imaging of calcium signalling. We shall focus on the cerebellar granule cell--Purkinje cell synapse, an important plastic synapse in its own right, but also one where evidence supports the existence of complex synaptic profiles potentially associated with silent synapses. The researcher will perform these measurements and data analysis will be shared with the other partners of the projects (IBENS, Paris). This information will provide a foundation for developing future hypotheses regarding the mechanisms of synaptic computations, plasticity and their role in learning and memory.
Activités
The researcher must
• Manage mice and prepare brain slices.
• Combine patch clamp and high resolution imaging recordings in cerebellar Purkinje neurons.
• Perform data analysis.
• Prepare reports and communications (conferences and publications).
• Manage results exchange with partners in Paris
Compétences
The candidate must have a PhD with laboratory experience. The candidate must be proficient in patch clamp recordings and calcium imaging, and have the following required knowledge and skills:
• Knowledge in biophysics and optics.
• Computer programming in MATLAB.
• Experience in electrophysiology and imaging.
• Several publications in the field of neurophysiology and at least one as first author.
Contexte de travail
The researcher will work at the CNRS Laboratory of Interdisciplinary physics (https://liphy.univ-grenoble-alpes.fr/) in the Grenoble university campus where the project will take place. She/he will benefit from collaboration and with the other laboratories involved in the project in Paris.
