Job Description
Missions
As part of the ANR CROC project (“Delving Deep into Dog-Human Interactions: Revealing Dogs' Adaptations to the Agropastoral Lifestyle through Paleogenomics, Functional Morphology, and Geochemistry”), led by Morgane Ollivier (University of Rennes 1), we are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to study the impact of the advent of agriculture in Europe on the diet of dogs through:
• Isotopic analysis of amino acids (CSIA).
• Analysis of zinc (Zn) isotope ratios in dental enamel.
The research will draw on samples from prehistoric dogs and associated fauna recovered from archaeological sites in France and Romania. The results will be interpreted in conjunction with morphometric and paleogenetic data.
Activity
The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for:
• Sample collection and preparation: tooth sampling, column chromatography, collagen extraction, and amino acid derivatization.
• Isotopic analyses: use of MC-ICP-MS (for Zn) and GC-IRMS (for amino acids).
• Data processing and interpretation.
• Scientific dissemination: presentations at conferences (national and international) and publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Your Profil
Skills
Required Qualifications:
• University degree in geosciences, archaeology, or stable isotopes.
• Experience preferred in:
- Mass spectrometry (MC-ICP-MS, GC-IRMS).
- Collagen extraction and amino acid derivatization.
- Column chromatography.
• Knowledge preferred:
- Dental development and zooarchaeology.
- Cleanlab work.
• Languages:
- Fluent English (required).
- French and/or Romanian (an added asset).
Personal qualities:
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Rigor and autonomy in project management.
Your Work Environment
This position is part of a multidisciplinary environment within GET-OMP (CNRS), where biologists, physicists, chemists, and geologists collaborate. The candidate will join the “Stable Isotope Geochemistry” team and will work closely with archaeologists and geochemists, both in the laboratory and in the field.
