Job Description
Missions
The postdoctoral researcher will work in Microbial Ecology Laboratory within the framework of the ADAPT-HC project funded by ADEME under GESIPOL program. The ADAPT-HC project aims to develop an innovative methodology for designing and optimizing bioremediation strategies for groundwater contaminated with hydrocarbons. She/her will work at the interface of microbial ecology, bioinformatics, and environmental engineering, in close collaboration with industrial partners (HYDREKA, TAUW France). She/her will be responsible for integrating molecular biology approaches, particularly environmental metagenomics, to better understand the role of microorganisms in hydrocarbon biodegradation under both aerobic and anaerobic conditions.
Activity
The main activities are:
- Perform environmental metagenomics analysis from laboratory and field bioremediation experiments.
- Determine relevant functional and taxonomic indicators from metagenomic data
- investigate microbial interaction in contaminated groundwater systems
- identify the environmental factors that promote hydrocarbon degradation
Your Profil
Skills
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate holding a PhD in microbiology, microbial ecology, environmental biotechnology, or related discipline. Applicants should have solid experience in environmental molecular biology and metagenomic data analysis. Skills in bioinformatics (R, Python, omics data analysis) are highly desirable. The ability to work independently while engaging in collaborative and interdisciplinary research is essential, as well as excellent communication skills in English.
Your Work Environment
The Microbial Ecology Laboratory (LEM) of the CNRS in Lyon is a world-renowned research center where scientific passion and innovation come together. Our laboratory is dedicated to studying the complex interactions between microorganisms and their environment.
At LEM, we investigate the fundamental mechanisms driving microbial interactions, from the molecular scale to the ecosystem level. Our research directly contributes to major global challenges such as climate change, antibiotic resistance, and the bioremediation of soils and water.
We offer:
• A stimulating work environment alongside research professionals
• 44 days of annual leave / RTT
• Training opportunities tailored to support your development
• Partial reimbursement of public transportation costs (75%) + a sustainable mobility allowance of up to €300 per year
• Employer contribution to health insurance coverage
