Missions
The "Predictive Ecological Genomics" (PEG2) research project, supported by the French National Research Agency, aims to develop statistical methods for predicting the responses of natural populations and communities to environmental change. It relies on genomic DNA, environmental DNA and large bioclimatic databases. The person recruited will be in charge of developing and validating such approaches.
Activités
As part of the host team, the successful candidate will define, implement and test new computer models for estimating the genomic offset of populations in the face of climate change. He/she will deepen the theoretical foundations of this approach, and propose new statistical or numerical measures based on artificial intelligence. She will supervise the work of students and young researchers, and ensure the dissemination of methods and knowledge.
Compétences
Expected skills include advanced expertise in environmental genomics and knowledge of concepts related to genomic vulnerability. Skills in population genomics, simulation and computer development are highly desirable, as are decision-making, management and communication skills.
Contexte de travail
The host team specializes in models and algorithms for genomics, and offers an ideal setting for developing methodological research on the subject, surrounded by recognized specialists in the discipline. Its location in Grenoble provides an ideal scientific setting in a stimulating natural environment for the success of the project.
