Missions
The research engineer will be responsible for operationalizing two devices compatible with in situ characterization by synchrotron X-ray microtomography. The systems are being developed specifically as part of ADAM (accelerated design of architectured materials) research project of the PEPR DIADEM. They consist of: (i) a 6-degree-of-freedom mechanical device to identify the behavior of metallic or bio-sourced architectural materials, and (ii) a device for additive manufacturing of these materials by local powder bed fusion. The engineer will have to receive the most critical elements whose design has been outsourced, finalize the production of the systems, validate their operation and then implement them for operation on a synchrotron beamline.
Activités
- Interaction with service providers responsible for implementing subsystems
- Acceptance of subsystems
- Integration of subsystems into each complete system
- System testing and validation
- Implementation of systems on synchrotron microtomography beamlines
- Testing and validation of systems in combination with in situ microtomography
- System documentation and user training
Compétences
- Scientific instrumentation
- Experimental mechanics and materials science with imaging
- Python-type programming
- Project management
- Teamwork
Contexte de travail
The 3SR laboratory and the SIMAP laboratory have strong expertise in the characterization of materials using in situ X-ray microtomography, particularly during thermomechanical loading or during the processing of materials. Both laboratories are involved in the ADAM (Accelerated Design of Architectured Materials) pilot project of the PEPR DIADEM (Integrated Devices for Accelerating the Deployment of Emerging Materials). The engineer will work in close interaction with the two teams located on the same site on the Saint Martin d'Hères campus in Grenoble. He will also interact with researchers and engineers from the ESRF tomography lines.
