Missions
Cement manufacturing is responsible for around 10% of man-made CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. In view of cement's essential role in urban infrastructure on a global scale, our aim is to sequester CO2 in cementitious materials. To this end, new composite materials have been synthesized from a cement/carbon nanoparticle with self-heating properties. The successful candidate will carry out synthesis experiments to optimize carbon-cement composites for various carbon dosages and types. He/she will then characterize their electrical conduction properties, mechanical properties and texture with respect to carbonation.
Activities
The postdoctoral researcher will carry out experimental work on the synthesis and multi-scale characterization of texture using several techniques (TGA,
adsorption CO2/Ar/N2, mechanical tests) and innovative texture imaging (SEM elemental mapping, electron and X-ray tomography techniques).
Skills
The candidate must have obtained a doctorate in materials science, civil engineering or another field.
Work Context
The postdoctoral researcher will have access to the facilities of the Laboratoire de Mécanique et Génie Civil (LMGC, Campus St Priest) and the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines d'Ales (IMT, Alès). He/she will be supervised by Katerina Ioannidou (LMGC) and Gwenn Le Saout (IMT Alès).
The position is located in a sector under the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST), and therefore requires, in accordance with the regulations, that your arrival is authorized by the competent authority of the MESR.
