Job Description
Missions
Within the framework of the national PEPR CHOOSE project, the primary mission will be the study, implementation, and evaluation of applications dedicated to embedded AI.
Activity
Application field: Embedded AI.
Application / Architecture exploration: Implementation of Neural Network Architecture Search (NAS) and quantization techniques.
Hardware/Software prototyping: Implementation of applications on FPGA targets.
Co-optimization: Hardware/software co-design, specifically neural network mapping to optimize performance and energy efficiency.
Scientific communication: Write technical reports, scientific publications, and present progress to PEPR CHOOSE consortium partners.
Technology watch: Monitor the state-of-the-art in AI models, learning techniques, and mapping strategies.
Your Profil
Skills
Deep Learning: Proficiency in PyTorch or TensorFlow for model training and optimization.
Compression (TinyML): Expertise in quantization techniques.
Software Programming: Advanced mastery of C/C++ and Python for deployment on constrained targets.
Hardware-Aware Optimization: Use of AI compilers and knowledge of AI accelerator architectures (systolic arrays, GPUs, crossbars, etc.).
System Profiling: Analysis of latency, memory footprint, and energy consumption on real hardware.
Hardware/Software Interface: Ability to define algorithmic specifications for circuit designers.
Soft Skills: Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and within a collaborative research environment.
Languages: Scientific English (reading, writing, and speaking) is mandatory.
Your Work Environment
This position is part of the PEPR Electronics (CHOOSE Project). The successful candidate will be hosted at LIRMM (Montpellier), focusing on digital architecture and system prototyping, in close collaboration with Spintec/CEA (Grenoble).
Constraints and risks
Occasional travel is to be expected for PEPR project monitoring meetings at the national level.
Prolonged screen time.
