Missions
The person recruited by the CNRS will join the laboratory LIRMM (UMR5506), Montpellier. The recruited person will work within the framework of the ANR project FLITTLA at the interface between classical and algorithmic information theories and their applications, interacting with project members present at the LIRMM and potentially with other project members (at the LaBRI and the IRIF).
Mission context: The objective of this project is the study of fundamental quantities of algorithmic information theory, such as mutual information and its generalizations. In general, we are interested in the universal constraints for these quantities. We focus on laws of information theory that can be applied to other areas of theoretical computer science, including problems of communication complexity and secret sharing. In this project, the algorithmic theory of information will have to integrate various formal methods, such as the theory of computability and combinatorics, adapt them to prove new information inequalities, and then to use them in the targeted applications.
Activités
The principal activities are listed below
-Collaboration with Andrei Romashchenko and Alexander Shen in the framework of the ANR project FLITTLA.
-Possible collaborations with the other members of the project (Montpellier, Paris, Bordeaux).
-Participation in seminars and working groups, and possibly in the supervision of a Master's internship.
- Publication of scientific articles and results.
- Participation in scientific conferences
Compétences
Skills and competences:
- solid theoretical knowledge on the fields of the project (classical and algorithmic information theory)
- programming skills (the project involves machine-assisted proof techniques)
- ability to work both independently and in a team
