A growing number of actors and organisations are now using the trial as an instrument of contestation and mobilisation in various ways. In a context of renewed environmental democracy and participatory approaches (Great Debate, National Climate Convention), the trial is one of the spaces reinvested in which citizens participate in the making of tomorrow's "climate law". Among all the questions raised by this new form of mobilisation for the climate, the Proclimex project proposes to look at the issue of expertise in these trials.
The 4-year Proclimex project aims to
- to shed light on the judicial strategies of NGOs when they use the instruments of law and litigation to advance the climate cause;
- to decode the social uses of the various expert opinions in the context of initiatives to legalise and litigate the climate cause;
- to highlight, through a comparative analysis, the process of moving from scientific truth to legal truth by questioning the adaptation of processual law and the institution of the trial;
- to provide avenues for strengthening the scientific-decision-maker interface in the climate field in a context of climate emergency.
The project is coordinated by Sandrine Maljean-Dubois, DR CNRS (DICE laboratory - International, Comparative, European Law), researcher in international environmental law, internationally recognized specialist in the international climate regime. PROCLIMEX will be conducted by a consortium associating on the Aix-Marseille site a law laboratory (DICE), an environmental sciences laboratory (CEREGE) and a political science laboratory (MESOPOLHIS), but also a law partner in Toulouse (LaSSP), two sociology partners in Montpellier (G-Eau) and Paris (CSI), as well as a partner in economics in Grenoble (GAEL)

The tasks he/she will have to carry out are the following
- Development of a database on climate trials.
- Participation in PROCLIMEX research in collaboration with PROCLIMEX members
This work will be carried out in interaction with the other project partners and in close coordination with the PROCLIMEX scientific committee.

- In-depth knowledge of the international climate regime gained through a PhD in climate change economics and/or climate science
- Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration
- Experience of working on climate actions
- Fluency in English
- Writing scientific papers and research reports in international A-ranked journals.
