Job Description

Missions

The CRBE (Centre for Research on Biodiversity and the Environment) is a joint research unit (UMR5300) whose scientific focus centres on the impact of environmental changes and their interactions with the living Earth, as well as the feedback loops of socio-ecological systems on these changes. The successful candidate will work alongside Philipp Heeb and Joël White, in collaboration with a PhD student, and will be responsible for analysing sequencing data from multi-year, large-scale projects to examine the ecological and phenotypic factors that shape the gut microbiota of birds. They will also carry out molecular analyses and bioinformatic processing of dietary metabarcoding data (ANR Copa-Co project).

Activity

- Statistical analyses and multivariate approaches using 16S metabarcoding data.
- Drafting of scientific articles and presentations.
- Molecular biology analyses (extraction, PCR, library preparation and sequencing) of faecal DNA and optimisation of protocols.
- Bioinformatic processing of food metabarcoding data.
- Sporadic participation in fieldwork.

Your Work Environment

Our research aims to gain a better understanding of the role of the gut microbiota in how organisms respond to human-induced disturbances in their environment. In particular, we are investigating the impact of urbanisation on host-microbiota interactions in titmice. Remote working is possible on one flexible day per week, subject to the employee's ability to work independently and notification via the relevant tools available in the department.
