General information

Reference : UMR5299-JULLAV-003
Date of publication : Wednesday, September 8, 2021
Type of Contract : FTC Scientist
Contract Period : 12 months
Expected date of employment : 3 January 2022
Proportion of work : Full time
Remuneration : about 2500€/month (free of charges), modulated according to experience, and including health insurance
Desired level of education : PhD
Experience required : 1 to 4 years

We expect the successful candidate to work on theoretical developments related to dark matter searches. She/he will be strongly involved in collaborations with the Strasbourg group (B. Famaey et al.), the Annecy group (P. Salati et al.), and the Marseille group (E. Nezri et al.) involved in the project. This collaboration is partly funded by the ANR project GaDaMa, with grant number ANR-18-CE31-0006.

Theoretical physics: develop original analytical and numerical calculations in the context of dark matter searches. This may include:
* Analytical studies of subgalactic scales at different redshifts (e.g. subhalos), with explicit links with the properties of the underlying dark matter scenario (exotic particles or PBHs), and with structure formation + consequences on dark matter searches.

Applicants should hold a PhD at the start of the contract, with a solid formation in theoretical particle astrophysics and cosmology, skilled in both analytical and numerical calculations. Experience in working, or very strong motivation to work at the frontier of different fields will be particularly appreciated (galactic/gravitational dynamics, structure formation, particle astrophysics/cosmology, dark matter searches - WIMPs, axions, PBHs, etc.).

Work Context

The candidate will be hosted by the IFAC team of LUPM, which comprises experts in particle astrophysics and cosmology, and particle model building. The initial contract is for 12 months, and can be extended by 12 additional months upon mutual satisfaction.
