Missions

We expect the successful candidate to work on theoretical developments related to dark matter searches. She/he will be strongly involved in collaborations with the Strasbourg group (B. Famaey et al.), the Annecy group (P. Salati et al.), and the Marseille group (E. Nezri et al.) involved in the project.

Activities

Theoretical physics: original analytical and numerical calculations in the context of dark matter searches. This may include:
* Study of subgalactic scales (e.g. cusps or subhalos), with explicit links with the properties of the underlying dark matter scenario (exotic particles or PBHs), and with structure formation + consequences on searches.
* Study of the dark matter phase-space distribution function in the Milky Way.
* Comparisons of models with observational data: (i) dynamical/gravitational information (Gaia, etc.); (ii) specific dark matter searches (wimp, pbh, axion, other indirect/direct searches).

Skills

Applicants should hold a PhD at the start of the contract, with a solid formation in theoretical particle astrophysics and cosmology, skilled in both analytical and numerical calculations. Experience in working, or very strong motivation to work at the frontier of different fields will be particularly appreciated (galactic/gravitational dynamics, structure formation, particle astrophysics/cosmology, dark matter searches - WIMPs, axions, PBHs, etc.).

Work Context

The candidate will be hosted by the IFAC team of LUPM, which comprises experts in particle astrophysics and cosmology, and particle model building. The initial contract is for 24 months, and can be extended by 12 additional months upon mutual satisfaction.
