Missions
While the use of fluorescent probes allows highly specific imaging of a precise pool of molecules, we are still lacking of environment information in a label-free manner, especially deep into the samples.
We are developing an innovative imaging approach based on the measurement of the phase of the light after interaction with a living sample. It unravels thin sample structures without any staining (Bon et al., Biophys. J., 2014).
We want to outspread quantitative phase imaging to identify nanoparticules.

Work Context
The laboratory of photonics, digital sciences and nanosciences (LP2N) located in the Bordeaux University is recognized worldwide for innovations in optics.
The “Nanobiomicroscopy” research team in the LP2N laboratory works in the research axe "Innovative imaging and quantitative biology". We develop novel optical imaging techniques for biology.
In particular, via the ERC starting grant “SpeciPhic”, Pierre Bon is developing novel label-free imaging techniques for biological studies. The candidate will work is this research team.
