Job Description

Missions

The position holder will be responsible for leading a research project aimed at understanding the neural mechanisms underpinning social behaviour in rodents.

Activity

Preparation and placement of brain implants (cannulas, sensors) using stereotaxy; design and refinement of behavioural tasks using the associated equipment; behavioural tasks in rodents; virus injections, collection and processing of in vivo recording data, active participation in the team's work, drafting of manuscripts, assisting with the supervision of students and technicians/engineers, assisting with the general organisation of the laboratory and the team (set-up, orders, shared laboratory tasks, etc.), overseeing the management of mouse strains (breeding handled by staff at our animal facility), actively participating in lab meetings and presenting research findings at conferences.

Your Profil

Skills

Expertise in brain surgery on rodents, viral injections, recordings from freely moving animals, and behavioural analysis is required. A basic understanding of programming and in vivo data processing, the ability to work as part of a team, a proactive attitude, rigour, organisational skills and creativity. The ability to conduct literature reviews and summarise readings on a given topic.

Your Work Environment

Established on 1 January 2011, the Interdisciplinary Institute of Neurosciences (IINS) is a joint research unit affiliated with the CNRS and the University of Bordeaux. With a staff of 170 people spread across 13 teams, the IINS brings together multidisciplinary expertise to study the molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in brain activity. The Institute develops innovative methods in imaging, chemistry, physiology and computing. As part of Bordeaux Neurocampus, the IINS is one of the key players in the neuroscience community in Aquitaine.
