Job Description

Missions

As part of a collaborative project funded by the ANR, the postdoctoral researcher will study the molecular mechanisms that control the organisation and molecular composition of hippocampal synapses in the context of synaptic plasticity. In particular, he will study the role of local synaptic receptor degradation mechanisms and the role of cytoskeleton-related proteins, and will examine how these molecular actors contribute to the molecular and functional diversification of synapses.

Activity

The candidate will conduct electrophysiology and imaging experiments (confocal, expansion microscopy) on acute and organotypic slices from mice. He/she will analyse the data, help to prepare it for publication in articles, and present the results at national/international conferences.

Your Profil

Skills

Electrophysiology (patch-clamp), advanced microscopy, keen interest in cellular and molecular neurobiology, particularly synaptic physiology. Fluency in English (spoken and written) is essential.

Your Work Environment

Created on 1 January 2011, the Interdisciplinary Institute for Neuroscience (IINS) is a joint research unit affiliated with the CNRS and the University of Bordeaux. With 170 staff members divided into 12 teams, IINS combines multidisciplinary expertise to study the molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in brain activity. The Institute develops innovative methods in imaging, chemistry, physiology and computer science. As part of Bordeaux Neurocampus, IINS is one of the major players in the neuroscience community in Aquitaine.
