Missions

The postdoctoral researcher will be required to conduct research on the fundamental role of social ties in relation to the issue of ageing in human societies. The candidate will analyse data collected during bibliographic research and produce a research report, accompanied by a presentation and written communications or communications at conferences. During the term of their contract, the successful candidate will be part of Team 5 - Dispositions, Powers, Cultures, Socialisations - at the Max Weber Centre. They will work closely with Mr Bernard Lahire, the project leader funding this postdoctoral position.

The candidate will perform the following main duties:
- Bibliographic research
- Regular presentation of progress reports to a scientific committee
- Promotion

Skills

The candidate must be able to work independently.
He or she must have good writing skills and general knowledge of social sciences and life sciences.
He or she must have knowledge of inter-species and inter-society comparison practices. He or she must have the ability to synthesise and integrate information.

Work Context

The candidate will work at the Max Weber Centre, a research laboratory in the humanities and social sciences. Business travel will be required to conduct interviews and collect questionnaires, as well as to attend project meetings.
