Job Description
Missions
Numerical Modeling:
a) Modeling of the experimental setup.
b) Implementation of compressible convection equations in open-source software.
c) Implementation of anelastic convection models.
d) Modeling of compressible convection for the internal convection of super-Earths.
Experimental Modeling:
d) Participation in experimental measurements.
e) Interpretation of measurements in light of numerical simulations.
The balance between numerical and experimental activities may depend on interest and competence of the applicant and on the progress of the construction of the experimental setup.
Scientific Dissemination:
f) Writing articles and presenting results at conferences.
g) Collaboration with project partners.
Activity
- Numerical calculations, implementation, analysis.
- Analysis of experiments
Your Profil
Skills
Required Profile:
- PhD in Fluid Mechanics, Geophysical Flow Physics, or a related field.
- Experience with compressible fluids is a plus.
- Skills in numerical modeling.
- Independence, rigor, and ability to work in a team.
- Knowledge of interior planetary convection or geophysical flows (a plus).
Your Work Environment
As part of the ANR CISTRE project, the Laboratoire de Géologie de Lyon (LGL-TPE, CNRS) is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher for a 12-month position, renewable once. The project aims to study compressible convection by combining laboratory experiments and numerical modeling. The group is made of Yanick Ricard, Stéphane Labrosse, Fabien Dubuffet and Thierry Alboussière.
