Job Description
Missions
This project is part of the research and development of silicon-based tandem solar cells.
The Postdoc will be in charge of the development and optimization of the fabrication of the c-Si solar cell. He/She will start with a process already developed at INL, and will optimized each step to obtain the best efficiency. He/She will also improve the design depending on the constraints of the top-cells and the simulation results of the project. A special care will be paid to the study of the rear face, to provide optical confinement of low energy photons but also efficient surface passivation. Introduction of selective contacts developed at INL will be also implemented in the fabrication.
Every step of the fabrication will be carried out in the clean-room facilities and equipment of INL (Nanolyon). He/She will use standard equipment usually involved in micro-technology, such as lithography, thermal diffusion, thin layer deposition, etc. He/She will also have access to all the equipment related to solar cell characterization: I(V) measurement, quantum efficiency analysis, ellipsometry, etc.
Activity
The engineer will be in charge of the optimization of solar cell fabrication process
- Standard clean room technologies
- lithography
- metal deposition
- chemical etching
- Characterisation of devices: (I(V), EQE, TLM, etc.)
Your Profil
Skills
Candidates are expected to have a strong background in Micro/nano fabrication technologies. He/she should already have a substantial know-how in lithography process and clean-room technology (deposition techniques). Basic knowledge at least of silicon solar cells would be appreciated. A strong motivation for experimental work is necessary.
Your Work Environment
The Institut des Nanotechnologies de Lyon (INL) aims to develop multidisciplinary technological research in the field of micro and nanotechnologies and their applications. The research carried out ranges from materials to systems. The laboratory is supported by Lyon's NanoLyon technology platform.
The areas of application cover major economic sectors: the semiconductor industry, information technologies, life and health technologies, energy and the environment.
The laboratory is multi-site, with locations on the Ecully and Lyon-Tech La Doua campuses. It employs around 230 people, including 121 permanent staff. The INL is a major player in the Research and Teaching Cluster.
This position is an innovative environment, at the cutting edge of future technologies, in strategic application sectors.
