Missions

A full time research engineer position is available in the Functional Materials and Nanostructures team of the Lyon Institute for Nanotechnologies. The mission enters is the framework of the ANR project CEAS-OFM that targets the development of a sensor to monitor molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) processes based on atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS). This new sensor concept, whilst relying on well proven AAS physics, embeds innovations that will enable unrivalled accuracy and reproducibility on the measurement of individual element fluxes during MBE process, and hence provide a beyond state of the art solution to control the growth rate and the composition of complex epitaxial compounds. The global purpose of the project is not only to design, implement and study a prototype version of the sensor, but also to convert it into a marketable new product.

Activités

In this context, the mission of the engineer is twofold. She/he will be involved in the optical design and implementation of the sensor in the MBE reactor available at INL, and in the optimization of its performances. She/he will also be involved in the test and characterization of the sensor in operational conditions, by performing the growth of complex oxide based heterostructures by MBE under sensor monitoring, and by evaluating their structural and functional properties. For this purpose, she/he will use a wide range of structural and functional characterization tools available at INL, such as X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, electrical measurements, ellipsometry, ….

Compétences

Skills
The candidate should be laureate of a PhD thesis in material science or optics, or have an engineer diploma in these fields. She/he should have a solid background in solid state physics, and a strong motivation to work in a R&D environment.

Contexte de travail

Given the strongly collaborative and multidisciplinary nature of the project, autonomy and communication skills are also expected.

Le poste se situe dans un secteur relevant de la protection du potentiel scientifique et technique (PPST), et nécessite donc, conformément à la réglementation, que votre arrivée soit autorisée par l'autorité compétente du MESR.

Contraintes et risques

Applications should include a detailed CV, one or two references (people to be contacted) when possible, the PhD defense report and/or the engineer school grades and ranking when applicable.
