Title: Design of flexible transducers integrated into road infrastructures
Designing and realizing an electrostatic generator for converting mechanical energy into electrical energy from electroactive polymers. Then, demonstrator to be integrated into a street infrastructure to assess the performance of the device actuated by the passing of a vehicle.
The first six months:
-Elaboration of polymer matrix composites incorporating carbon nanotubes (CNT) treated on the surface with an insulating coating (to be done). Study conducted at the MSSMat. Evaluation of the dielectric and insulation properties of these composites (influence of the insulating coating on the CNTs, incorporated charge rate).
-In parallel, with the support of G2Elab, design of mechanical structures that can accommodate the composites in the context of the application
The next six months:
Study conducted at G2Elab:
- Finalization of the prototypes
- Laboratory and on-site performance testing
- Elaboration of polymer-nanoparticle and/or electroactive polymer composites
- Measurement of materials for energy harvesting
- Coupled electro-mechanical skills would be a bonus as well as instrumentation skills.
- Autonomous, dynamic, reactive, imaginative, a pronounced interest in experimental and instrumentation.

- Good writing and communication skills
- Know to manage a multi-partner and multi-site project.
The G2Elab is a joint research unit of the CNRS, Grenoble Alpes University and Grenoble INP. G2Elab's research areas range from materials for electrical engineering to smart distribution networks and devices for power electronics. The laboratory is structured into five research teams, a technical unit and an administrative unit encompassing a total of around 250 people (researchers, lecturers, engineers, technicians, administrative staff, PhD students, master students) to address today's and tomorrow's challenges of the Energy Transition and its social issues. You will be part of the team Dielectric Materials and Electrostatics, whose interests include the development of original transducers for energy harvesting.Experimental work. Study in partnership between the MSSMat at CentraleSupélec (Paris region) and the G2Elab in Grenoble. The post-doctoral student will share his time between these two sites 600 km apart. The first 6 months will mainly take place at the MSSMat for the elaboration of the materials and the following 6 months at the G2Elab in Grenoble to assemble the energy harvesting structures and evaluate the performances of the devices developed multi-partner and multi-site project.
Constraints and risks
The project will take place on 2 distant sites (600 km) and it will be necessary to ensure a good interface in terms of work progress between the 2 project partner groups.
- It will also be necessary to integrate the personal organizational aspect into the efficiency of the study.
Preferably a candidate with proven experience in the field of materials and devices for energy harvesting in mechanical - electrical conversion. However, a young Ph.D. graduate is accepted if the suitability is excellent.
