Job Description

Missions

The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to the H2RECOVER project, an ANR-funded initiative aimed at developing innovative porous liquids and catalysts for the low-pressure hydrogenation of Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carriers (LOHCs). The mission of this role is to:

1) Advance Fundamental and Applied Research:
- Investigate zeolite-based porous liquids to enhance hydrogen absorption and catalytic efficiency in LOHC systems.
- Explore hydrogen spillover mechanisms and the impact of impurities (e.g., CO, H₂S) on catalyst performance.

2)Support Knowledge Dissemination:
- Publish high-impact research in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at national and international conferences.
- Contribute to open science initiatives by sharing data and methodologies on platforms

3) Train and Mentor Junior Researchers:
- Assist in the supervision of master's students, providing guidance on experimental techniques, data analysis, and scientific communication.
- Promote a collaborative and inclusive research environment that encourages innovation and critical thinking.

Activity

The primary responsibilities include:
1) Synthesis and Characterization of Porous Liquids
- Prepare and characterize zeolite-based porous liquids .
- Evaluate the porosity and hydrogen absorption capacity of these systems using:
- Assess the catalyst on hydrogen absorption.

2. Evaluation of Porous Liquids in LOHC Hydrogenation
- Investigate the influence of porous liquids on LOHC hydrogenation kinetics and product selectivity.
- Analyze the stability of catalysts through recycling experiments and post-reaction characterization.

3. Collaboration and Dissemination
- Work closely with PhD students, master's students, and senior researchers across IRCELYON and ENS Lyon.
- Participate in project meetings, present results at national/international conferences, and contribute to high-impact publications.

Your Profil

Skills

Required Qualifications
PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physical Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.

Strong background in:
Catalysis, porous materials (zeolites, MOFs), or liquid-phase reactions.
Experimental techniques for gas absorption (gravimetric microbalance, isochoric cells)
Catalyst characterization (e.g., XRD, TEM, FTIR, chemisorption).

Experience with Data analysis and scientific reporting.
Experience in working in interdisciplinary and collaborative environments.
Excellent communication skills in English (written and oral).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desired Qualifications
Experience with porous liquids, LOHC systems, or hydrogen storage materials.
Familiarity with high-pressure reactors and safety protocols for hydrogen-related experiments.

Your Work Environment

Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the project, the candidate will work in two separate laboratories in the Lyon region (IRCELYON and ENS Lyon). At IRCELYON, the candidate will have access to state-of-the-art infrastructure for the synthesis, characterization and testing heterogeneous catalysts , which at ENS Lyon, the work will be focused on the synthesis and characterization of the porous liquids systems.
The work will be performed under the context of the H2RECOVER project offering a dynamic and collaborative environment, with opportunities to interact with leading experts in catalysis, porous materials, and computational chemistry.
