Missions

Researches within the CARE team focus on the formation and evolution of particles in the atmosphere. The assistant engineer will be in charge of the instrumental park as well as involve in the development of the high-resolution mass spectrometry tools. The assistant engineer will participate in the different ongoing projects aiming at characterizing the chemical composition of atmospheric particles.

Activities

More specifically, the assistant engineer will ensure that the analytical park composed of different high-resolution mass spectrometers. This will include developing protocols for each instrument (calibrations, maintenance, ...), participating in ongoing developments on the instruments available within the team, and finally performing analyzes to determine the chemical composition of different gas and particulate matrices. The assistant engineer will also participate in the team and in the management of its common equipment.

Skills

The candidate should have experience in analytical chemistry with good English skills. Experience with mass spectrometers is expected. Knowledge of computer language (Matlab, Python) would be a real asset.

Work Context

The project will take place in the CARE team (Characterization and Remediation of pollutants, http://www.ircelyon.univ-lyon1.fr/la_recherche/equipes_de_recherche/(syrcel_identifier)/CARE "of the Institute for Research on Catalysis and Environment of Lyon (IRCELYON) This laboratory located in Villeurbanne in France is the largest in Europe devoted to heterogeneous catalysis. The CARE team is focused on environmental themes.
