Missions
Study of the conformational properties of polyelectrolyte brushes under the action of external fields using numerical simulations (Brownian dynamics, self-coherent field)
The candidate will carry out numerical simulations of the behaviour of polyelectrolyte and polyampholyte brushes of increasingly complex architecture and composition under the action of an applied external electric field with the aim of providing theoretical guidelines and formulating rational design principles for intelligent surfaces capable of electro-stimulated reversible nano-patterning. Simulation results will be systematically compared with predictions from analytical scaling theory, which will ultimately enable us to establish systematic relationships between the architecture of homo- or hetero-polyelectrolyte brushes and their electro-reactive behaviour.
