The objective of this post-doctoral work is to develop new access routes to industrial greases from renewable resources. The work will focus on the synthesis of molecules allowing supramolecular interactions. The study will be accompanied by rheological analyses. The work will eventually continue with pilot tests and extrapolation of the systems.
This work will be carried out within the Polymers Department of the Charles Gerhardt Institute in Montpellier (France) as well as at the Solaize Research Center (TotalEnergies)
The TotalEnergies group has taken the Paris agreements of December 12, 2015 into account in its strategy and has set itself an ambition to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, in line with society, for all of its its global activities.
This movement is reflected in the in-depth transformation of the company: from an oil major to a multi-energy group. During this transition phase, TotalEnergies R&D is at the forefront to prepare for the future.
A major energy player, TotalEnergies also develops lubricating grease solutions. These greases are used in all industries, mainly for the lubrication of bearings of all types. Technically, lubricating grease is above all an oil trapped in a thickener which, under the effect of a stress, will release the trapped oil in order to lubricate the machine component. These properties are, for the most part, derived from the network formed by the thickener.
