Job Description
Missions
The objective of this project is to characterize the activity and stability of iridium oxide-based catalysts supported on various materials within a PEM electrolysis cell. Catalyst layers and membrane-electrode assemblies will be prepared and characterized in an electrolysis cell. In particular, stability will be assessed using accelerated degradation tests, and the structural and morphological evolution of the catalysts will be monitored via physicochemical techniques.
Activity
- development of supported catalysts;
- ink formulation and preparation of catalyst layers;
- fabrication of optimized membrane-electrode assemblies and their testing in an electrolysis cell (performance and durability following accelerated stress tests – AST);
- structural and morphological characterization of electrodes after AST.
Your Profil
Skills
The candidate must be highly motivated and autonomous, and have a solid knowledge of materials science. Knowledge of electrochemistry and fuel cell/water electrolysis technology will be a key asset. Proficiency in French or English is essential (ability to communicate fluently and to read and understand technical documentation).
Your Work Environment
The Institut Charles Gerhardt de Montpellier (ICGM) UMR 5253 is one of the four Institutes of the Balard Chemistry pole. The Department of Materials Chemistry, Nanostructures, Materials for Energy brings together around 70 researchers and lecturer, doctoral students, and post-docs, who develop their research activities on materials and their mechanisms of action for energy by implementing expertise in chemistry and physico-chemistry of materials and interfaces, solid state and materials chemistry. The activity of the recruited person will be carried out within the "Energy Conversion" group, in connection with the group's activities on fuel cell and electrolyzer core materials.
Constraints and risks
This position is located in a sector covered by the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST) and therefore requires, in accordance with the regulations, that your arrival be authorized by the competent authority of the MESR.
