This work concerns the preparation of new, more efficient and durable electrocatalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction, in particular nanoparticles based on platinum and rare earth alloys (for example PtY). It therefore concerns the development of new ways of synthesizing these nanoparticles and their physico-chemical and electrochemical characterization. In particular the electrocatalytic activity towards the reduction of oxygen and the durability of these nanocatalysts will be evaluated. Finally, electrodes will be prepared and the corresponding MEAs will be characterized by electrochemical techniques in situ.

The candidate must be highly motivated and autonomous, and have a solid knowledge of materials science / electrochemistry. Some knowledge of electrochemistry and fuel cell technology would be beneficial. Knowledge of French or English will be essential.
The Charles Gerhardt Institute UMR 5253, is one of the four Institutes of the Montpellier Chemistry Pole. The Aggregates, Interfaces and Materials for Energy team brings together around 70 research/lecturer staff, PhD students, post-doc and CDD who develop their research activities on the topics of materials and their action mechanisms for energy by implementing skills in the chemistry and physico-chemistry of materials and interfaces, the chemistry of solid and materials. The activity of the recruited person will be carried out within the "Energy Conversion" group, in relation to the group's activities on fuel cell core materials and electrolysers.
