Missions

The aim of the postdoctoral position will be to synthesize and determine the crystal structures and compositions of new (meta)stable open-structured silicides under HP-HT conditions as well as their P-T stability or synthesis domains.

Activities

- Main task 1: the candidate will be one of tha main contributor to the In-situ X-ray diffraction experiments performed for studying the formation of new silicides using both large volume presses such as multi-anvil and Paris-Edinburgh Presses at the ID06-LVP and ID27 beamlines at ESRF.
- Main task 2: The candidate will be responsible to the optimisation of the large volume synthesis of the new letastable silicides discovered in the previous task.
- Secondary task: The candidat will contribute to the In-situ Raman scattering experiments also performed at ICGM using diamond anvil-cells for probing higher pressure P-T domain.

Skills

- Expert in materials science, solid state chemistry and/or crystallography.
- Expert in materials synthesis under high pressure, preferably using large volume press.
- Experience in resolution of crystal structures.
- Experience with glove box under argon atmosphere and eventually with air sensitive materials.

Work Context

The work in postdoctoral position will be performed within the thematic group CNM2 of D4 department of ICGM, at the pôle Chimie Balard Recherche. The group has large experience in high pressure field and in synthesis of air sensitive materials. The postdoc researcher pwill be recruited within the Openbar project, funded by the french national research agency (ANR) and in collaboration with Wilson Crichton from the ESRF. The postdoc reasearcher will do missions at the ESRF in Grenoble during its work. The missions will be funded by the Openbar project.

The position is located in a sector under the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST), and therefore requires, in accordance with the regulations, that your arrival is authorized by the competent authority of the MESR.

Constraints and risks

The missions at the ESRF synchrotron in Grenoble present some risks for the radioprotection and from the use of the high pressure.
The samples will be handled in the glove box under Argon atmosphere.
