Job Description

Missions

The project involves preparing a hybrid membrane composed of functionalised alumina as a functional additive for polymer electrolytes.
The aim is to achieve an electrolyte architecture demonstrating good cohesion: preparation of a polymer matrix reinforced by well-dispersed alumina fibres, which will provide mechanical and electrochemical stability in Na-S batteries.

Activity

The main stages of the project will be:
- Characterisation of beta-alumina (Al₂O₃) fibres
- Chemical functionalisation of the Al₂O₃ fibres
- Reaction with a polymer (via thermal, photochemical or photo-crosslinking processes)
- Physicochemical characterisation of the membrane
- Electrochemical battery tests (CV, LSV), determination of ionic conductivity by impedance.

Your Profil

Skills

-Knowledge of organic chemistry for fibre functionalisation
-Knowledge of polymer synthesis (e.g. PEO)
-Proficiency in physicochemical characterisation techniques
-Knowledge of electrochemistry, particularly batteries

Your Work Environment

-Collaboration between two chemistry departments at the ICGM: D2 (fibre processing, functionalisation and polymerisation) and D4 (membrane characterisation and electrochemical studies).
The battery group in D4 departement is specialized in materials for batteries (electrodes, electrolytes: their performance and the mechanism understanding). The D2 department is specialized in polymer synthesis and characterization, and all their application, i.e. as electrolyte in batteries.
-Project funded by PELLENC Energy

-Duration: 18 months
