A first collaboration with the Charles Gerhardt Institute allowed Biomanity to develop its generic SAP, with an absorption capacity of about 60 g of water per g of SAP. The synthesis strategy set up allowed the generation of a generic SAP and could be reproduced in the scale-up phase up to about 1kg. The objective of this new mission is to optimize this generic SAP


- Increase of molecular weight polymers
- Copolymerizations
- Optimization of different post-crosslinking routes
-Set up a larger scale synthesis pathway for industrialization.


The candidate should have a PhD in polymer chemistry with a good knowledge of biobased polymers.

Work Context

This work will be performed in collaboration with Biomanity company. Biomanity is a social economy company that develops disruptive innovations contributing to the objectives of the ecological transition. Biomanity has developed a super-absorbent polymer from renewable resources, to effectively replace petrochemicals used in agriculture and the environment. The objective is to create a universal agricultural tool, easy to use, allowing to cultivate under water stress while controlling water and fertilizers, 2 resources in the process of becoming scarce and sources of pollution for fertilizers.At the end of the post-doctorate, Biomanity wishes to hire the candidate in order to constitute the team of its future internalized research laboratory on polymers and biobased materials.

Constraints and risks

This work will be done in restricted area depending on the "Protection of technical and scientific potentiel". Thus, according to regulation, candidate venue must be authorized by MESR authority
