Missions
The main objective of this postdoc position is to advance the theory of quantum error correction, with potential impact on universal fault-tolerant quantum computation, and on the theory of rank and sum-rank metric codes, with potential impact on code-based cryptography.
Activités
The postdoctoral researcher will engage in one or both of the aforementioned areas, according to expertise and interest.
#Quantum Error Correcting Codes: Topics may include the construction and study of QECCs using algebraic or geometric methods, quantum CSS and CSS-T codes, locally recoverable quantum codes, quantum LDPC codes, and the exploration of new quantum code parameters motivated by fault-tolerance and physical implementability.
#Codes in the Rank and Sum-Rank Metrics: Potential directions involve the construction of maximum sum rank distance (MSRD) codes and their generalisations, structure theory of (sum-)rank metric codes, interactions with algebraic geometry or combinatorics, decoding algorithms, and applications to code-based cryptography. The algebraic framework may involve skew-polynomial rings, module structures, and field extensions.
Compétences
The candidate is expected to have research experience in quantum and/or classical coding theory. Familiarity with algebraic geometry, finite geometry, code-based cryptography or quantum stabiliser formalism is a plus. The postdoc position allows flexibility to grow toward quantum or classical directions depending on expertise. The successful candidate is expected to show independence. A research project in line with the themes of the postdoc project will be appreciated.
Contexte de travail
The selected candidate will be welcomed into the Number Theory team at the Institute of Mathematics of Bordeaux.
The starting date of the position is between September 2025 and January 2026. The contract is for one year, renewable for a second year.
