The purpose of this project (funded by the French Research National Agency) is to investigate the supramolecular properties of hydrofluorinated compounds. The aim is to determine the influence of the polarity on the supramolecular behavior of partially fluorinated compounds. The project involves multi-step syntheses of original organofluorine compounds able to form supramolecular assemblies in a controlled manner and with high fidelity of interaction. The study of supramolecular properties will involve the use of several complementary analytical tools (NMR, XRD, ITC, MS) to determine the influence of the solvent, the geometry of the interaction, the fidelity and the energy associated with the formation of complexes.

The project will be carried out under the supervision of Guillaume Compain of the peptidomimetic chemistry group from the Institute of Chemistry and Biology of Membranes and Nano-Objects (CBMN) from the University of Bordeaux.
The research team is located at the European Institute of Chemistry and Biology (IECB). The laboratory is equipped with all the necessary instruments for the realization of the project (HPLC, semi-preparative HPLC, automatic flash chromatography, microwave reactors, freeze dryer, rotavap, autoclave, etc.). Several analytical platforms are available on-site and offer cutting-edge instruments: NMR (300, 400, 500, 800 MHz), mass spectrometry (LCMS, HRMS, LCQ) and X-ray diffraction.
Constraints and risks
The project involves the health and safety constraints associated with the handling of chemicals. The experiments will be carried out in a laboratory equipped with fume hoods.
