Missions
The Institut Génomique Fonctionnelle de Lyon (IGFL) is looking for an rodent assistant engineer to provide logistical and operational support for the Plateau Expérimentation et Hébergement Rongeurs (PEHR). You will be involved in organizing and monitoring the maintenance of animals, equipment and premises, and will provide support in carrying out experiments.
Activités
Under the supervision of the engineer in charge of PEHR, you will participate in the logistical and operational monitoring of this platform.
As such, you will be required to :
- ensure first-level maintenance and follow-up of equipment maintenance (anesthesia machines, ventilated racks and cabinets, imagers)
- manage stocks and orders (consumables, litter and food)
- organize and participate in animal and premises maintenance, in consultation with users
- ensure animal welfare and health monitoring
- take part in experiments on mice in support of the platform's user teams: monitoring murine colonies, injections, treatments, sampling, measurements, dissections, imaging....
- apply and enforce regulations concerning animal experimentation and chemical and biological waste management
Compétences
- Knowledge of animal experimentation (handling, sampling, injections in rodents)
- Knowledge of animal biology
- Knowledge of zootechnics and rodent genetics
- Knowledge of animal european experimentation regulations and health and safetý
- carrying out procedures on animals certificate (EU function A) required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and strong organizational abilities are essential.
- Knowledge of English (level B1) would be an asset.
Contexte de travail
-The IGFL (Institut de Génomique Fonctionnelle de Lyon), located at the ENS de Lyon, is a research unit with a particular interest in understanding how the genome shapes the development, physiology and evolution of multicellular organisms. The institute has an 80 m2 rodent experimental animal facility, the Plateau Expérimentation et Hébergement Rongeurs (PEHR). This facility can house 2,000 mice, 200 rats and 200 other rodents (acomys, gerbils, hamsters). It is currently used by around twenty people (researchers, students, technicians) from 4 different teams. In particular, you will be involved in the experimental activities of the “Integrative physiology of host-microbe interactions” team and the “Molecular and epigenetic control of biological rhythms” team.
