As part of a project focusing on the pathological role of cell division defects during the cystic phases of kidney cancer, the “Centrosome Cil et Pathologies” team led by Bénédicte DELAVAL is recruiting a researcher / research engineer (CDD). The candidate will use cell biology and microscopy approaches on 3D culture of kidney cells as well as zebrafish embryos to understand how the mTOR / S6K1 pathway controls the orientation of cell division and cyst formation.

-provide experimental evidence demonstrating the mechanism studied (3D culture of kidney cells and zebrafish model)
-assess the effect of inhibitors on cyst formation in vivo
-assess the mechanisms of action of inhibitors

- PhD level in cell biology / developmental biology
-Theoretical and practical skills in cell biology and microscopy on 3D samples
-Experience with zebrafish as a research model (breeding, injections, imaging, image analysis ...)
-experience in ciliogenesis and / or cell division
-experience in cell signaling
-diploma in animal experimentation for research will be positively considered but is not required

Work Context

The position is open in the “Cilia centrosome and pathology” team at the Montpellier Research Center for Cell Biology (CRBM). The team's objective is to study from the molecular scale to the tissue scale, the cellular mechanisms associated with the centrosome (ciliogenesis, cell division, etc.) as well as to understand their contribution to renal morphogenesis under normal and pathological conditions (cyst formation and cystic phases of kidney cancer). The CRBM, which is under the supervision of the CNRS and the University of Montpellier, is located on the CNRS campus, route de Mende, in Montpellier.
This project is carried out in collaboration with the team of Mario Pende (Paris; see publication related to the project Bonnucci et al. Nat Commun 2020). The candidate will be recruited at the CRBM and will have access to the local infrastructure including an aquatic animal facility and the MRI Biocampus microscopy platform.
