Job Description

Missions

The candidate will investigate the properties of altermagnetic materials using scanning NV microscopy. This technique enables magnetic field mapping with very high sensitivity and nanometer-scale spatial resolution. During the postdoctoral fellowship, this technique will be used at room temperature and at cryogenic temperature (4 K) (i) to image spin textures (domain walls, skyrmions) in altermagnetic materials, and (ii) to investigate the properties of spin waves confined by these textures through local magnetic noise measurements (relaxometry).

Activity

- Acquisition of magnetic field maps using scanning NV microscopy at room temperature and 4 K;
- Data analysis;
- Preparation of reports and presentations of the results.

Your Profil

Skills

- PhD in condensed matter physics, with a strong background in nanomagnetism and quantum physics;
- Expertise in atomic force microscopy and quantum sensors;
- Good command of spoken and written English;
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Bonnes compétences en communication et capacité à travailler en équipe.

Your Work Environment

This postdoctoral research will be carried out within the “Solid-State Quantum Technologies” (S2QT) team at the Charles Coulomb Laboratory (L2C, UMR5221) in Montpellier. It is funded by the ALTEROPSIN project (ANR-24-EXSP-0002), as part of the PEPR SPIN program. The overall objective of this project is to develop an altermagnetic material platform to uncover their peculiar
properties and unlock the potential of altermagnets, which combine the advantages of ferromagnets
(large magneto-optic and spin-polarized currents) and antiferromagnets (ultra-fast responses), for
future spintronic devices.
