Within the framework of the European Quantum Flagship project on “Advancing Science and Technology through diamond Quantum Sensing – ASTERIQS” (https://ec.europa.eu/digital-single-market/en/content/asteriqs-advancing-science-and-technology-through-diamond-quantum-sensing), a two-year post-doctoral position is immediately available in the Laboratoire Charles Coulomb located in Montpellier, France.


Sensing using spin qubits is a rapidly growing field, enabling to probe a large variety of quantities. These quantities include magnetic field, electric field, pressure or temperature to name a few. Single spin qubits associated with the NV centers in diamond are outstanding in this respect, thanks to their long coherence time even at room temperature.
The specific research project will be focused on the use of such NV-based sensors. Their unique capabilities will be applied to open questions in nanomagnetism, by exploring the emergence and the control of exotic spin textures in antiferromagnetic or ferrimagnetic nanostructures at room temperature and in cryogenic environments. 
In parallel, the post-doctoral researcher will be involved in the development of NV centers-based thermal sensors with nanoscale resolution for applications spanning from semiconductor technologies and manufacturing fields to bioscience and nanomaterials.


The candidate should hold a PhD degree. Previous research experience in condensed matter physics (nanomagnetism, semiconductors), experimental optics and/or atomic force microscopy, would be beneficial. This project will be carried in a scientific environment providing
- world‐class research facilities, with already three NV centers-based quantum sensing benches operating at room and cryogenic temperature
- partnership with industry and academia with international well-established collaborations
- participation to international conferences and outreach activities
