Job Description

Missions

Migration of an existing image processing software from MATLAB to an optimized C++ implementation, integrated into a secure back-end environment compliant with medical regulations and standards.

Activity

Code Translation and Optimization
- Translate and optimize the existing MATLAB image-processing software into high-performance, maintainable C++ code.
- Improve computational efficiency, scalability, and software robustness.
Technical and Regulatory Validation
- Contribute to the preparation of technical documentation (specifications, validation reports) to initiate the CE/FDA submission process.
- Collaborate with scientific and clinical teams to validate results using phantom datasets, healthy volunteer data, and patient datasets.
System Integration
- Develop back-end modules for interfacing with MRI scanners (Siemens, GE, Philips) and clinical databases.
- Ensure traceability and compliance with applicable standards (ISO 13485, MDR, etc.).
Contribution to Technology Transfer
- Contribute to scientific publications and deliverables for the CNRS pre-maturation program.
- Opportunity to participate in the creation of a deeptech startup (technical role to be discussed).

Your Profil

Skills

Required Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in C++, including experience with optimization, memory management, and modern libraries such as Eigen, OpenCV, or ITK.
- Experience with MATLAB for data analysis.

Additional Qualifications
- Knowledge of medical regulatory standards (CE/FDA, ISO 13485) or experience in developing safety-critical software is a strong plus.
- Experience with MRI systems (acquisition workflows, DICOM formats) or medical imaging is a plus.
- Strong autonomy, scientific rigor, and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team (clinicians, researchers, engineers).
- Interest in technology transfer and healthcare innovation.
- Professional technical English proficiency (documentation and communication with international partners). French language skills are a plus.

Your Work Environment

Scientific and Technical Background

We have developed and patented a quantitative multiparametric MRI-based digital biopsy solution, enabling in vivo mapping of key biological tumor parameters (oxygenation, cellularity, vascularization, necrosis, etc.). This non-invasive, contrast-agent-free technology is applicable to all types of solid tumors.
To obtain CE marking and FDA 510(k) clearance, it is necessary to demonstrate the robustness, reproducibility, and accuracy of our method. This requires translating an existing image-processing software package (currently implemented in MATLAB) into an optimized C++ implementation, integrated within a secure back-end environment compliant with medical device standards.
Work Environment and Career Prospects
- Integration into the CREATIS Laboratory (Lyon), with strong clinical partnerships, including the Léon Bérard Cancer Center.
- This project is funded through the CNRS Innovation and Pre-Maturation Program, with a clearly defined roadmap toward the creation of a startup within 18 to 24 months.
- Possibility to extend the contract through the startup maturation phase depending on project progress and candidate involvement.
- Participation in the startup as a technical lead or technical co-founder may be discussed depending on the candidate's background and contribution to the project.
