Missions

The postdoctoral position is part of the "Recycling, Recyclability and Reuse of Materials" PEPR (Priority Research Programs and Equipments) funded by the ANR (France 2030) and more specifically of the "SO RRYL – A Reuse and Recycling Society?" project. The SO RRYL project aims to investigate the place of waste in our societies, in particular recycling and reuse processes, from a multi-disciplinary social sciences perspective.
The person recruited will conduct an empirical analysis, based in particular on quantitative methods, of circular business models in the French plastics industry. The aim is to contribute to understanding the determinants of the adoption of circular economy principles by companies in the sector, how these principles are integrated into their business models, and the resulting effects in terms of the organisation of activities and skills requirements. This research is expected to inform industrial, innovation and training public policies in order to support the circular transition of the plastics industry.

Activities

- Design and implement scientific and methodological surveys
- Develop and formalize methods for analyzing empirical data on the integration of circularity principles into the business models of companies in the French plastics industry, its determinants and implications
- Collect, analyze and discuss data
- Present research findings at project workshops and national and international conferences
- Write articles
- Participate in the organization of meetings to monitor the progress of the project and possibly a workshop or conference

Skills

The candidate must hold a PhD in economics or management. Additional training in engineering and/or professional experience related to the circular economy would be appreciated.
The candidate must be proficient in quantitative data collection and analysis techniques (statistical/econometric tools).
They should have an interest in interdisciplinary issues and environmental questions.
They must have an excellent level of French and English, both spoken and written, and be able to work in a team.

Work Context

The person recruited will work at the Triangle laboratory (UMR 5206, Lyon - Political Economies Unit), in close collaboration with GREDEG laboratory (UMR 7321, Sophia Antipolis) and the ESDES - UCLy research unit. These three units share the scientific responsibility for the post-doctoral project.
The post-doc will also be required to interact with members of other partner institutions involved in the SO RRYL project and, more generally, in the "Recycling, Recyclability and Reuse of Materials" PEPR programme, whose work covers a variety of disciplines.

The position is located in a sector under the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST), and therefore requires, in accordance with the regulations, that your arrival is authorized by the competent authority of the MESR.
