Expected date of employment : 1 December 2025
Proportion of work : Full Time
Remuneration : Between 2991 € and 4166 € gross salary/month
Desired level of education : Doctorate

Missions

Open position of researcher in geophysics (induced polarization) applied to cement and concrete in the frame of the PALLAS project in collaboration with IRSN and funded by the Banque de Développement. The recruited researcher will be part of the Morphodynamics team in the EDYTEM laboratory and will be supervised by André Revil (Senior Researcher with the CNRS).

Activities

The work will consist in developing petrophysical and geophysical research regarding induced polarization on cement and concrete at different scales (petrophysical measurements and charactaerization at the core scale in the laboratory at EDYTEM and on site at Tournemire, in Aveyron, South of France, tomography at the meter scale). Our goal is to better understand the spectral induced polarization (complex conductivity spectra) of this type of porous material and to work on 3D and 4D induced polarization tomography at the meter scale using the TERRA impedance meter (20 channels). Results will be published in high-ranking journals (for instance Engineering Geology) and the researcher will be involved in the communication of the results at meetings including at national and/or international levels.

Skills

The researcher will have a solid experience in geolectrical methods (including data filtering and tomography) and having an experience in the laboratory characterization of porous media will be a major asset. There is no rule or constrains about the tools and codes that will be used for the study but the researcher will need to be independent and autonomous regarding this matter. The candidate will also be willing to present his results orally and to write scientific articles in English.

Work Context

The researches will be conducted in the pluridisciplinary EDYTEM laboratory, an “Unité Mixte de Recherche” (Mixed Research Unit) belonging to both the CNRS and Univeristy Savoie Mont Blanc, but whose common line is mountain environment. He/she will be related to the Morphodynamics team, which hosts about fifteen permanent researchers, an engineer and a lot of PhD candidates and postdocs, mostly in the fields of geology, geophysics and physical geography
