Job Description

Missions

We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to study the structural dynamics of heterodimeric GPCRs using time-resolved cryo-EM approaches.

Activity

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Establishing the production and purification of a heterodimeric GPCR in eukaryotic systems.
- Solving the structures of this GPCR in the presence of various ligands using single-particle cryo-EM (grid freezing, data collection, data analysis with different software, deposition of PDB files and maps in relevant databases).
- Developing time-resolved cryo-EM methods.
- Performing functional assays of the studied GPCRs and their mutants.
- Actively participating in collaborations related to this project, including attending meetings, sharing results, and exchanging materials.
- Maintaining laboratory notebooks, organizing, and storing data in compliance with laboratory guidelines.
- Participating in lab meetings, contributing to lab life, and assisting in general lab organization.
- Writing up results for publication and presenting them at meetings/conferences.
- Training new lab members in the developed methods.

Your Profil

Skills

The ideal candidate should have:
- A PhD in biochemistry or structural biology.
- Experience in membrane protein purification, ideally in eukaryotic systems (HEK or SF9).
- Experience in cryo-EM, including data acquisition and structure resolution.
- A strong interest in methodological development.
- The ability to work collaboratively and as part of a team is essential. The candidate must also be capable of working independently and efficiently.
- Strong written and oral English skills.

Your Work Environment

The postdoctoral position will take place at the Institut de Génomique Fonctionnelle, under the supervision of Anaïs Menny, within an interdisciplinary team led by Philippe Rondard. The host team has recognized expertise in all aspects of the project, which will also be supported by a close collaboration with Emmanuel Margeat's team at CBS (Montpellier), whose single-molecule FRET work will complement the structural observations made during the project.
The team is supported by multiple European (ERC, Marie Curie) and national (ANR, FRM) grants. The successful candidate will have access to state-of-the-art platforms, including electron microscopy facilities (a 120 keV screening microscope and a 200 keV Glacios microscope with direct detector) and pharmacology resources (the ARPEGE platform, managed by the team). They will also have access to all necessary equipment for biochemistry and cell culture, including incubators, centrifuges, ÄKTA systems, reagents, as well as pharmacology tools, such as Revvity reagents and kits available through our collaborative laboratory with the company.
The team also has multiple GPU clusters for cryo-EM structure resolution and is part of a cryoEM BAG (Block Allocation Group) for the ESRF (European Synchrotron Radiation Facility).
