Job Description

Missions

The agent will work within the framework of the TOXOPRED project, which aims to test the hypothesis of behavioral manipulation of African ungulates by Toxoplasma gondii, a ubiquitous parasite. The agent's mission will be to develop methods for the detailed characterization of animal behavior using biologging data.

Activity

The activities to be carried out are to:
• Contribute to the organization and management of project data.
• Develop and/or evaluate machine learning algorithms on multimodal biologging data (location, audio, accelerometer, and magnetometer data).
• Participate in writing articles.

Your Profil

Skills

Knowledge:
• Solid knowledge in machine learning, and more specifically deep learning, within the framework of supervised and unsupervised approaches.
• Prior experience applying these methods to biologging data will be appreciated.

Know-how
• Fluent command of professional English.
• Proficiency in deep learning tools (e.g., Python, PyTorch...).
• Good writing and synthesis skills.

Interpersonal Skills:
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work autonomously while operating within a collaborative framework.

Your Work Environment

The position is based at the Centre for Functional and Evolutionary Ecology (CEFE) in Montpellier, within the "Movement, Abundance, Distribution" team. Numerous projects led by the team's researchers focus on animal behavior in marine and/or terrestrial species. Connections will be developed with teams working on artificial intelligence in other Montpellier laboratories, and potentially in South Africa.
The agent will have access to the necessary equipment to develop their approaches without constraints (e.g., access to a computing server).
