Job Description

Missions

Design and carry out experiments focused on ant navigation, both in the laboratory and in the field. Perform quantitative analysis and agent-based modeling of behavior. Report, discuss, and present data to the team. The position is for 36 months.

Activity

Laboratory work using virtual reality (VR)
Fieldwork (setting up infrastructure, conducting experiments, recording ant movements)
Data analysis
Agent-based modeling of behavior
Co-authoring scientific publications

Your Profil

Skills

Ability to design and implement behavioral protocols
Knowledge of statistics
Experience in signal analysis
Experience in agent-based modeling
Proficiency in Python
Knowledge of insect neurobiology is a plus, but not essential

Your Work Environment

The position is funded by the ERC RESILI-ANT project, led by Dr. Antoine Wystrach. The successful candidate will join the project team at Université de Toulouse Paul Sabatier and will work closely with PI Antoine Wystrach, a postdoctoral researcher, and a research engineer. Field experiments will take place in Seville for Cataglyphis velox and in Australia for Myrmecia species.
