Missions
The postdoctoral researcher will work in the context of the ANR GroupSolve project, which aims to provide a quantitative analysis of collective problem-solving mechanisms in human groups (in Toulouse) and in baboons (study conducted by our collaborators in Marseille). The postdoctoral researcher will participate in the design, execution, and analysis of behavioral experiments in humans. Furthermore, they will develop a modeling approach inspired by statistical physics to describe individual strategies, their interactions, and emergent effects at the group scale. The candidate will contribute to the development and experimental validation of mathematical and computational models linking individual microscopic dynamics, information propagation, and collective structures (norms, social networks, global performance).
Activités
Experimental Design: Participate in the development of experimental protocols and human collective behavior experiments.
Data Analysis: Perform advanced statistical analysis of experimental data.
Modeling: Develop data-driven numerical models (opinion models, norm dynamics, multi-agent systems).
Network Science: Study social and temporal interaction networks using network physics tools.
Simulation: Conduct numerical simulations, quantitative model/data comparisons, and exploration of predictive scenarios.
Dissemination: Participate in the scientific promotion of results (publications, conferences).
Compétences
Education: A PhD in Mathematics or Physics (or a related discipline relevant to the project) familiar with the tools of statistical physics.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis and modeling.
Programming: Mastery of at least one programming language (Python, C++, Fortran, etc.).
Experience: A minimum of 4 years of post-doctoral experience is required.
Contexte de travail
The position is funded by the ANR GroupSolve project, involving Guy Theraulaz (CRCA/CBI) and Clément Sire (LPT). The successful candidate will be hosted within the project team at the University of Toulouse and will work in close collaboration with Guy Theraulaz, Clément Sire, and their partners in Marseille.
