Missions

The objective of this 12-month postdoctoral project — starting in early October 2025 and funded according to the CNRS salary scales — is to prepare a series of heterobimetallic catalysts supported on silica using a surface organometallic chemistry approach. Once these catalysts are prepared, their reactivity and robustness will be explored, particularly in C-H and C-F activation reactions for the isotopic labeling of various industrially relevant organic substrates and/or the degradation of persistent organic pollutants, in continuity with the team's previous work.[1-7]

- Preparation of heterogeneous catalysts by immobilizing the complexes on materials using a surface organometallic chemistry approach
- Full characterization of these new molecular complexes and materials (Elemental analysis, X-ray diffraction, multinuclear NMR, IR , EPR, XAS, XPS spectroscopy, TEM, etc.)
- Study of the reactivity of these catalytic materials in various C-H and C-F bond activation reactions (monitored by kinetics via GC/GC-MS or NMR, mechanistic studies, substrate scope, etc.)
- Literature analysis, writing of scientific articles, presentation of results at conferences...

Compétences

- Excellent academic background in molecular chemistry (particularly organometallic chemistry)
- Strong proficiency in handling compounds under inert atmosphere (Schlenk techniques, gloveboxes), and in synthesizing highly sensitive (pyrophoric) compounds
- Solid knowledge of characterization techniques for metal complexes and catalytic materials (multinuclear NMR spectroscopy in solution and solid state, infrared, UV-visible, EPR, X-ray absorption and diffraction, elemental analysis, etc.)
- Excellent expertise in catalysis (kinetic monitoring of reactions via NMR / GC / GC-MS, strong grasp of catalytic concepts)
- Some experience in material characterization via EXAFS would be a plus
- Some experience in catalysis involving C-H and/or C-F bond activations would be a plus

Contexte de travail

This work is part of the ERC StG DUO project, under the supervision of Dr. Clément CAMP. The research will be conducted within the MMAGICC team of the CP2M laboratory, located on the La Doua campus in Villeurbanne. The team is internationally recognized for its leadership in surface organometallic chemistry and catalysis. The laboratory is fully equipped to prepare and characterize supported catalysts and study their reactivity (Schlenk lines, gloveboxes, high vacuum lines, GC and GC-MS, IR and UV-visible spectrometers, liquid and solid-state NMR, batch and flow reactors, etc.).
