2yr CNRS/ANR postdoctoral position at the LAPTh, Annecy, France, starting in Fall 2021 (earlier/later start possible), to work on modelling of high-energy emission of Galactic compact objects, and multi-wavelength signal emission.


We expect the successful candidate to work on theoretical predictions for compact object populations in the Galactic bulge, modelling the formation and evolution of different classes of high-energy emitters. Gravitational waves and other multi-wavelength signatures of such populations will also be explored. The candidate is expected to play a leading role in the project.


We expect the successful candidate to work on theoretical predictions for compact object populations, to model the formation and evolution of different classes of high-energy emitters, and to characterise gravitational waves and, more generally, multi-wavelength signals.
Know-how in population synthesis codes and knowledge of the theory of compact object formation and evolution is recommended.

Broader profiles in astroparticle physics and dark matter indirect detection will be also considered.
Strong motivation to work at the frontier of different fields will be particularly appreciated (galactic or gravitational dynamics, particle astrophysics/cosmology, dark matter indirect searches and phenomenology).

The fellowship is designed for young researchers, just finishing their PhD or with no more than 2 years of postdoctoral experience at the start of the contract.

Work Context

This position is embedded in the context of the project “Galactic high-energy Emission from Compact Objects“ (GECO), funded by the French National Agency for Research (ANR), PI: F. Calore.
The candidate will be hosted in the Astroparticle & Cosmology team of LAPTh, on of the three teams of the laboratory. The candidate will also benefit from interactions with the experimental scientists of LAPP, involved in the HESS, CTA and Virgo experiments.
Travel and research funding is guaranteed by the ANR starting grant.
