Job Description
Missions
The Annecy Laboratory of Theoretical Physics (LAPTh) invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral position starting in autumn 2026. The successful candidate will work on the phenomenology of dark matter particles coupled to an ultralight scalar field.
Activity
The successful candidate will study scenarios where dark matter is primarily composed of a weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP), accompanied by an ultralight scalar field that couples to it linearly or quadratically. The main goal is to assess how and to what extent this ultralight subcomponent modifies WIMP phenomenology.
Your Profil
Skills
Applicants must hold a PhD in theoretical particle physics, with recognized expertise in physics beyond the Standard Model, particularly in dark matter physics. Any additional experience in cosmology will be considered an advantage. Proficiency in English (minimum B2 level) and mastery of symbolic and numerical computation tools are also required.
Your Work Environment
The successful candidate will join the Annecy Laboratory of Theoretical Physics (LAPTh), a joint research unit affiliated with CNRS and Université Savoie Mont Blanc. With around twenty permanent researchers and faculty members, as well as an equal number of postdoctoral fellows and PhD students working on a wide range of theoretical physics topics, LAPTh provides a rich and stimulating scientific environment conducive to the development of early-career researchers.
