Job Description
Missions
The main responsibility of the successful candidate will be to develop and oversee neurophysiology and non-invasive brain stimulation experiments planned as part of the SLEEPY-STROKE project. He or she will also serve as technical manager of the EEG and NeuroStim platforms at the IRMaGe research unit for 40% of their time.
Activity
As part of the ANR SLEEPY-STROKE project:
- Overseeing the TMS-EEG experiments planned in WPs 1 & 2
- Developing closed-loop TMS-EEG approaches
- Developing TMS-EEG signal analysis tools
- Development, testing, and implementation of the accelerated and personalized rTMS neurostimulation protocol planned in WP 2
- Participation in the processing of TMS-EEG data acquired in WPs 1 & 2
- Participation in the promotion of project results
- Integration into the SLEEPY-STROKE project consortium and participation in all project-related working meetings
- Training and support for the acquisition of TMS-EEG data by the doctoral student and master's students associated with the project
- As part of the technical responsibility for the IRMaGe EEG and NeuroStim platforms
- Technical management of the platforms: equipment maintenance, management and monitoring of technical malfunctions, management of consumables, hardware and software, orders (hardware, software & consumables).
- Supporting the development of neurophysiology and neurostimulation projects planned at
IRMaGe (feasibility studies, scientific expertise, optimization, development of software, hardware, and/or methodological solutions).
- Training users in the use of equipment and tools, and in data acquisition on the platforms
- Participating in the preparation of platform performance reviews
Your Profil
Skills
Knowledge/skills
- Expertise in neurophysiology data acquisition (EEG and EMG): acquisition systems, methodology, signal analysis
- Expertise in non-invasive neurostimulation: stimulation systems (transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial electric stimulation (tES)), methodology, safety, data analysis
- Knowledge of ultrasound-based neurostimulation systems would be a plus
- Expertise in neurostimulation assistance systems: neuronavigation and assistance robots
- Knowledge of systems neuroscience, clinical neuroscience, and cognitive science
- Knowledge and application of ethical procedures (research involving human subjects)
Expertise
- Technical mastery of all systems comprising the acquisition chain in neurophysiology and non-invasive neurostimulation: amplifiers, EEG headsets, EOG electrodes, EMG, stimulators, stimulation coils, neuronavigation, and TMS assistance robot
- Proficiency in software used in neurostimulation: tmsnavigator, robot controller, MagVenture stimulators
- Proficiency in software used in neurophysiology data acquisition and analysis: BrainVision, EEGLAB, Fieldtrip, Brainstorm
- Ability to convey knowledge to a variety of audiences: students, researchers, clinical staff
- English language level B1 to B2 minimum

Your Work Environment
The ANR SLEEPY-STROKE project aims to explore the pathophysiology of stroke and develop a new therapy based on personalized, accelerated non-invasive brain stimulation to improve motor recovery. The IRMaGe unit is a research support unit (UAR) comprising three technical platforms: two Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) platforms and a neurophysiology platform comprising an Electroencephalography (EEG) platform and a non-invasive neurostimulation (NeuroStim) platform.
