Job Description
Missions
The post-doctoral researcher will work on characterizing the impact of pesticides on the development of glioblastomas. The post-doctoral researcher will use in vitro approaches to culture patient-derived cells and treat them with molecules found in pesticides to analyze their impact on the energy metabolism of glioblastoma cells. The post-doctoral researcher will also conduct in vivo experiments
Activity
Main activities
• Analysis of samples from patients with glioblastoma to detect certain pesticides or molecules related to these pesticides.
• Carrying out experimental assays required for the project (genetic and pharmacological manipulation of human cancer cells, cell biology experiments, biochemistry, metabolic profiling, measurement of metabolic or electric activities via probes or MEA system, and in vitro imaging using confocal microscopy).
• Animal experiment to evaluate the role of pesticides in glioblastoma development.
• Monitoring the scientific literature relevant to the project.
• Presenting results at weekly laboratory meetings and at national and international scientific meetings.
Secondary activities
• Interacting with other team members and collaborators.
• Participating in in vivo experiments (access to immunodeficient animals and neurosurgery).
• Taking part in the laboratory's collective activities (e.g., meetings, seminars).
Your Profil
Skills
Main skills:
• Expertise in neuroscience, cellular and molecular biology, and metabolic analyses.
• Knowledge of neuro-oncology would be an asset.
• Familiarity with the functioning of cerebral metabolic systems or glioblastoma biology will be appreciated.
• Language skills: proficiency in spoken and written English is essential in the international group.
Skills:
• Strong proficiency in human cell culture techniques, microscopy, and solid knowledge of metabolic fluxes, metabolomic and transcriptomic analyses.
• Ability to quickly adapt to new methodologies.
• Proficiency in using computer tools and software dedicated to data processing.
Personal qualities:
• The postdoctoral researcher must be motivated, rigorous, well-organized, and able to work independently.
Your Work Environment
This position is part of the PSGAR NaCRE project, which brings together experts in neuro-oncology, chemists, and clinicians to understand the role of pesticides in the development of glioblastomas.
The project is integrated into the activities of this initiative, ensuring a stimulating scientific environment at the interface of oncology, neuroscience, and bioinformatics.
The post-doctoral researcher will join the Glioblastoma Metabolism team at IBGC (CNRS, Bordeaux), led by Dr. Thomas Daubon, and will work in close collaboration with the consortium partners, including the teams of Dr. Lucie Brisson (Bordeaux) and Prof. Sébastien Lecommandoux (Bordeaux).
