Missions

The engineer will be part of a team (±3 people) dedicated to understanding the control of cell growth and shape during the cell cycle in order to ensure healthy cell proliferation. Working closely with other team members, the successful candidate will be responsible for implementing protocols in molecular biology and cell biology. They will report directly to a researcher and contribute to the organization of the group

Activités

Contribute to the team's research:
- Learn protocols and perform experiments in molecular and cellular biology.
- Generate and analyze strains expressing fluorescent or epitope-tagged reporters of the cell cycle and the cytoskeleton.
- Work together with other team members to analyse cell cycle events in normal cells and mutants and present results to other team members.
Organization and management:
- Survey lab stocks and ensure the supply of chemicals and reagents.
- Order chemicals and reagents for the team.
- Contribute, with other team members, to the preparation of the team's media and solutions.

Compétences

- Proficiency in English (reading articles and protocols, good comprehension and oral communication)
- Ability to write experimental protocols.
- General knowledge of methodological approaches applied to molecular and cellular biology (PCR, SDS-PAGE, Western blot, etc.).
- Proficiency in standard office software (Microsoft Office).
- Demonstrate motivation to participate in the development of research projects as well as to manage various administrative and organizational tasks for which he/she will be responsible.
- Capacity to work in a team.

Contexte de travail

The Research Assistant will work on the full-time basis in the team of Dr. Derek McCusker, according to the working conditions and salary detailed in her/his contract. She/he may have to work outside of the IBGC (“mission”) in the context of her/his activities. She/he will be trained to all the protocols in place at IBGC, allowing her/him to work in a safe environment.
